 Situation of Maternal- Infant Health in Argentina

The situation in the country is quite varied and there are many different aspects to be highlighted, mainly:
Professional Training
* Undergraduate and post graduate syllabi seldom include content related to critical reading of medical publications.
* There is little training in research .
* Scientifically sound literature in Spanish is scarce.
* Resources to provide continuous education in disciplines related to Maternal –Infant health are limited.
Maternal-Infant Medical Care
  • The quality of medical care differs according to geographical area.
 
  • There is insufficient systematic introduction of humanized and scientifically-based health care
 
  • Mortality rates are very high in some areas of the country.

 Research

The potential for development of national and international clinical research studies in the country is very high.

Infrastructures, teams and networks that promote collaborative research are scarce.
